Jebba Hubba, Hubby, Baby Bubba and the Kitty Combo!

Monét missed Gary Jr. soo much so I went out and got him two new friends – Booboo and Turbo.

I also decided to set up a much larger living space for them in hopes that it would also keep them warmer and more humidified. Hubby had an aquarium that was originally used for “Lizzie” (Lizzie was apparently too scary and no one really talks about her anymore.) and was vacant now. We bought some coconut substrate to put on the floor of the aquarium and a piece of mopani wood for the hermies to climb on and hide under. The coconut substrate is supposed to help keep in some humidity and allows them to burrow – which they LOVE to do. We also added a heat lamp (which is only on sometimes) and I had some water dishes, sponges and extra shells so the aquarium was lookin’ good!

Of course they burrowed out of site as soon as they could – LOL! (Pictures to come soon!)

I saw Monét out and about last night so I hurried over to ask him how he liked the aquarium and mopani wood:

He decided to stretch his legs and illustrate his feelings:

I am happy that they have a nice big area to live in now.

I totally missed the 1 year anniversary of “What’s all the Hub Bub?”

It’s true I have been blogging for a year now – and although the blogging didn’t really pick up until many months after the first post – it’s been quite a commitment. It’s hard to work a full time job, get married, buy a house, fix up a house, eat, sleep, etc, AND write a blog! Yes, please play your violins for me- haha!

In honor of the 1 year anniversary I am giving away this prize!

Woot! That’s right lotto scratch-off tickets. I saved $5 on two containers of kitty litter so I took the $5 and spent it on your prize!!

You could “Win for Life”, have some “Summer Fun”, or “7” could be your lucky number! Check them out – not scratched or anything!

All you have to do to win is enter a comment! — Tell me what blog post has been your favorite from the past year (and if you don’t have a favorite then any comment will do).

RULES: You can enter once a day until 3/17/10 after that comments will be closed. The winner will be announced on 3/18/10. I will use a random number generator to select the winner. I will contact the winner for the address they want the prize mailed to! Now we will see who really read my blog!

Meatballs

We had guests on Saturday and I made a lovely early dinner/late lunch of Spaghetti and meatballs. We also had sauteéd zucchini and delicious italian bread with butter. The presentation of the spaghetti and meatballs was quite grand. We got to use our HUGE serving bowl from our wedding china set- it worked great!

Hubby suggested I snap a quick photo:

Nugget what did you think of dinner?

Did you have enough to eat?

Work has been happening- and progress is being made. Lots of “putting up sheet-rock”, and “spackle parties” have occured. And this weekend the vanity complete with sink and faucet was installed!!

Hubby had to get his “breakfast fix” so we went to the diner. If he doesn’t get a “real” breakfast every so often he turns into a grumpy-sourpuss-meanie head. We can’t have that happening so I quickly agreed to head over to the diner with him before the situation turned ugly.

Hubby got a meal that came with orange juice….

Go ahead, laugh. Seriously?!

The rest of the meal was pancakes, two eggs, and ham (on a plate that was too small). I ate the ham.

I got french toast.

They do have a lot of options for breakfast and that may have contributed to why so many people were there. It was about 35 minutes before we got our food and that was really disappointing. I think a diner should have food to your table in about 10 minutes max! The waitress went to two other tables with OUR food before figuring out it was OURS and she never refilled Hubby’s coffee. She must have been busy BUT seriously that is no excuse. All in all, once you get your food it is tasty – not spectacular- but tasty.

Today’s experience was maybe 2.75 stars out of 5.

I decided that I needed to take my man out to dinner. He does a lot of work around here and he deserves a good night out! Bonus for him he has such a good lookin’ lady to be his date.
(I used some special money that two special people slipped into my bag – thanks ma&pa – xoxo)

I gave him the choice of going to the “Time to Eat Diner” or “Thai Kitchen II”. I had mentioned that on Sunday when I was at another store in the same plaza as the Thai Kitchen it looked totally packed with people – lining up outside their door. I almost didn’t have the word Thai out of my mouth before Hubby said … “Ooh Thai!”

As soon as we got to the restaurant we were impressed. It had a great atmosphere right away – the host station was made to look like a thai pagoda building, the walls had great thai elephant art and the deep red and black color scheme was really working. A large fish tank was right near our table and it was nice to look at the fish swimming around.

We decided that we hadn’t been out to eat – had a date – in awhile so we were going to enjoy ourselves. We each got an appetizer and an entreé.
(A quick note about the photos: Of course it’s iphone quality – booo. AND i didn’t want to be a big weirdo so i took photos quickly and wasn’t so meticulous with the quality of the picture.)

Hubby got the Thai egg rolls (there were three but we were ravenous and almost forgot to take a picture) and I got the Chicken Saté.

Both were really good. Best Saté I ever had actually – the peanut sauce was flavorful and the cucumber sauce was a bright and refreshing accompaniment.

Of course for my entreé i had to get PadThai – it’s my favorite – with chicken and shrimp. Hubby got a Thai Curry dish called “Gang Dang” – he chose shrimp as the protein.

It… was… the… BEST PAD THAI EVER!! SERIOUSLY!. It was so delicious, flavorful, sweet & tangy, rich, meaty, bright, peanutty, earthy – It was great! i squeezed the slice of lemon (which surprised me because usually it is lime but the menu made mention of lemon specifically) over the pad thai and it really brought it to life.

Hubby really enjoyed his Spicy Curry Shrimp – i did a tiny taste test and it had great flavor and heat. It wasn’t so spicy that Hubby was sweating or anything but it left a nice burn in his mouth.

We will definitely be back to Thai Kitchen II
Anyone who visits us may also be making a trip there with us – i can see it becoming a fast favorite :)! Or check out their website, they have multiple locations it seems.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

More Snow…

This picture shows the weather prediction for Wed-Saturday….

This is how Trixie and Nugget spent their time – no worries in the world.

Although I did stay home from work on Thursday and Friday (I am not that confident of a winter weather slippery sloppy road driver) – the storm wasn’t as monstrous in our area as they had predicted. Guess we all should have been more like Trix and Nug.

After grouting we noticed that a little bit of the edge was missing some grout. It was difficult to tell what area under the heater would be visible after installing the vanity so a very small half inch section needed a bit more grout. Hubby mixed some up and went to work mushing it in under the heater and smoothing it out to blend it all together.

While Hubby was working on the bathroom Nugget decided to hang around and offer assistance when needed. Can anyone guess where Nugget is in this picture?

Yeah – he is “helping”.

Hubby is so patient with the little Nugget. He loves it when he helps.

It was a pretty easy task. Hubby and Nugget were done the work in about 20 minutes and they were off on their next adventure.

Delicious homemade Matzoh Ball Soup! Yup, that’s right I even made the chicken broth! I add carrots, celery, onions, seasonings and a whole chicken into a huge stock pot of water and end up with delicious flavorful chicken stock. It’s a great feeling to have all that homemade stock in my freezer ready for me to use whenever I need it.

I give this soup 5 out of 5 stars!

I was going through computer files and found a funny video from 12/23/2006. This was our first attempt (and maybe last) at Gingerbread men!

Enjoy!
