Jebba Hubba, Hubby, Baby Bubba and the Kitty Combo!

My bosses got me this… Any guesses?

Ta-da!!
They thought I might need to put my feet up in the next couple months. Hmm….wonder why they would think that!

I also got to choose this Super Deluxe Comfy Cozy Leather Chair! It’s the perfect fit with great lumbar support. Dan put it together in 18min (taking it out of the box time not included) – I timed him. There is a slight discrepancy in the time because Dan took a cell phone call while assembling the chair and he felt he was not operating as efficiently as he usually does. I told him “No excuses.”

Weeee!

‘Tis the season

Hubby got the tree out and set it up on Friday night… I think I fell asleep on the couch watching a christmas movie. He put it all together and put the lights on too! Then together on Sunday we decorated it with some tinsel garland and all of the ornaments. We found a kickass star at “The Christmas tree Shoppes” store (go figure) for $4.99 and it really makes the tree look great!

We have a lot of christmas balls – red and silver only to maintain a little bit of organization – and not that many “other” ornaments. Of the ornaments we do have this one is my favorite. She is a pretty plump elephant in a pink Tu-Tu and ballet slippers. She has silver sparkles around her top and a pearl necklace. What this has to do with Christmas I have no idea but, I like it..it makes me smile.

After we finished decorating I asked the kitties if they liked it and they said yes. Well actually, Trixie continued to sleep without batting an eyelash and Nugget gave me the cold shoulder. He was very aloof and would barely look in my direction. At first I thought he was being moody because he was totally fixated on the beautiful Christmas tree but I soon found out what was really bothering him…

We did eventually make up once he realized I was the one with the blanket and a nice warm lap to curl up on. We shall see how the tree holds up and which ornaments are the first casualties this year. My theory is that since Nugget is decidedly more plump this year, he might not actually climb much into the tree this year leaving the ornaments closer to the bottom the only real targets. Cross your fingers that my theory holds up!

Hubby and I got to see our friend Joe in “The Full Monty” at The Count Basie Theater in Red Bank, NJ on Sunday. The show was really funny and very entertaining. Joe did a great job, especially his “audition”. Of course photography is not allowed during the show so at the end of everything we snuck a picture of the sign as the we all cleared out of the Theater.

The theater was really nice – check out this magnificent ceiling.

Another unrelated note – I made The Pioneer Woman’s caramel apple sticky buns a few weeks ago as a birthday present for someone. I left out one ingredient – oops – and they still came out pretty good. I will make them again for sure… without forgetting any ingredients this time.

And look at that beautiful cake stand! I got that from my sissy for my bday. Soo beautiful! Hubby asked his someone had left if at our house at the last party and when I told him it was a gift to me he said “Oh cool I really like it, I thought we were maybe going to have to steal keep someone’s cake thingy.”

South Jersey Reporter knew he was in the Thanksgiving mood when he looked out into the backyard and saw that the Turkeys had returned!

(Look at that stinker up on top of the fence!)

Ohhhh and more great costumes — Check out more pics on Erik’s blog.

I have a bunch of photos of some fun things that have happened in the past month to post about and I haven’t been finding any time to post about anything.

I am going to do a quick photo blog today about my birthday party and the new dishwasher — Sorry it’s not more in depth but once we get back on track here hopefully the posts will be more regular.

My birthday was so delicious. My mom told me she would come to my house and cook whatever I wanted for dinner and also wash all of the dishes too. When hubby heard that she would be washing all of the dishes too he thought it meant that we could leave all of the dishes for the next two weeks and she would wash them when she got there. I thoughtfully assured him that what she meant was she would cook and make sure to clean up from the dinner making process. LOL

I chose Linguine with Clams, garlic bread, and salad for my birthday dinner. (my mom also made rigatoni with red sauce for those of the party who do not eat seafood.. *ahemmm, T.R.* . IT WAS DELICIOUS. I want it again right now!!! We also had an array of desserts. We had pineapple upside down cake (ma), baked apple dumplings (my sister al la pioneer woman), and homemade biscotti. AND to top it off my mom got me this CRAZY birthday cake candle that when lit became a torch and opened up into a flower and started spinning around while playing the Happy Birthday song! IT WAS INSANE!!!

And unfortunately for my mom in the next few weeks we finally got our dishwasher (could have saved her a lot of dish washing time) – and Hubby and his Dad were able to install it without any problems at all. They had to take out a couple drawers and cabinets, add some plumbing and electrical (and an under sink water filter) and then PRESTO – NEW DISHWASHER!!!

Although it sounds complicated I don’t think it was. It was mostly a matter of doing everything in the right order and knowing how to do it all. And honestly I don’t think it was that hard but every time I went in to take a picture Hubby and his Dad seemed to be napping right there on the floor….

And finally it was all installed and it runs really well – we are soo happy! You can see it in this picture where Hubby is eating some pizza from our Halloween party in his “Handy Man Costume”… LOL! (More on the party later and better pictures of the dishwasher later too.)

Sad day…

We lost Dewey to the big desert in the sky on Sunday morning.

He was a great little buddy and he would have been 7 years old in January. He lived a good life with Hubby at college and his parent’s house and then with us both (in two apartments and the house). We will miss him and it was very sad for Hubby but I think we both knew it was the Dew-Man’s time to go to the Happy Meal Worm Hunting Grounds.

Well, my Battle Royale entry didn’t make it into the competition. I thought I had a chance but I just didn’t make the cut. My boss, however, did make it in! He was ranked #18 out of the top 32 contenders.

Since he was ranked #18 he had to battle #15. They had a 2 round competition with the lower seeded player (my Boss) challenging the higher seeded player. The higher seeded player opted to let my boss “throw the first blow” and within the time allotted this is what my boss came up with this:

Same idea applies to this round like the entry image. You should create an image from many different images, draw, paint, create something great! I think my boss used about 7-10 different images to create this whole scene. He hand drew in detail in the hair which he was very proud of how it turned out. It does look pretty spiffy!

And after his opponent went — my boss’s second row image was this

I didn’t want to post the opponent’s images because I can’t get his permission to do so. And these images my boss created can’t be used or sold anywhere and are copyrighted so don’t even think about trying to be illegal with them.

Unfortunately my boss lost the battle to his opponent and therefor the Battle Royale journey is over for him as well. It was a really excellent effort and we around the office think the judging may have been a bit subjective and maybe next year they will have a better idea of how to set the judging criteria to avoid judging based on personal preferences. Basically we think he was robbed!

If you want to view the battle and make judgment for yourself as to who should have won, click the link below and then come back and let us know what you think. I guess it’s better luck next year for us!

Sorry for not posting lately but here are three photos to show you that we are live and have been doing more projects at the homestead.

Please note the stylish attire of the hired help – and the laying on the bed vantage point of the photos.
